Deputy Director Zheng Rongxin, on behalf of Hangzhou Economy Committee and Hangzhou Industrial Design Association, expressed his welcome that the Information Meeting on iF Design Award China 2009 was for the first time held in Hangzhou. He highly praised iF Design Awards. He said that iF Awards is just the “Oscar Award” within the international industrial design industry. Ever since the iF Design Award China was initiated in 2003, it has been developed into one of those most important awards within the design industry in China, providing a great platform for designers where they are able to showcase their excellent designs, to develop there design quality and make their companies more famous. On the meeting, Deputy Director Zheng introduced the policy, environment for and status quo of the industrial design in Hangzhou as well and encouraged industrial design companies and organizations in Hangzhou to participate in international industrial competitions, which is a good way for companies to put forth their favorable designs. Zheng also pointed out that he wishes to see further cooperation among iF, the Government of the Hangzhou city and industrial companies and agencies in Hangzhou, so as to further develop the industrial design industry in Hangzhou.
